What do you think is the best camera store in Brisbane in terms of knowledge, service and price.

But sometimes you need to get a few little bits and pieces in a hurry.

Where would you go?

Hello dhess
I find Photo Continental quite good, althought they are out at Mt Gravatt. Here is their web site:
http://www.photocontinental.com.au/
I've just noticed that web site is only showing contact details ATM, they have on-line shopping under construction. But it will give you their phone numbers. They were Australia's largest mail order camera business at one time. BTW, I think I live about 100 metres from you. Check this out (from the end of the boardwalk):

Photo Continental also used to be good when I lived in Brissie.... but that was a few years ago now. Sorry I can't help with any more recent recommendations...

There's always Ted's, but being a Sydneysider, I can't give much more help.

Ted's, Rainers and Camera House are all within 100 meters of each other in Adelaide Street, but I don't recommend them for any major purchase. Might be OK for emergency items like filters, etc. Nice people, but short on knowledge IMHO.

Talk about it being a small world.

Which building you live in?

We live in Goldsborough Place.

Thankyou for the replies.

I am aware of all of the three stores mentioned.

Have found Rainer's to be a bit lack luster price wise.

Ted's have been not too bad pricewise after some haggling, and reasonably knowledgable if you speak to the right person.

Looks like it might be time to go for a drive to check out photo continental.

For range, you certainly can't beat Photo Continental. I think their prices and knowledge are just average. The knowledge part surprises me since they have been in business a long time and are a specialist photo store. I do think their (all in-house) processing services are quite good, though.

Cheers

Not really in Brisbane, but then neither am I... While on holiday on the Gold Coast I found Star Optics on the Gold Coast Highway in Mermaid Beach to be very good value... The owner seemed to know his stuff and was quite knowledgeable about Nikon products...
I don't mind paying a little extra for that sort of specialist knowledge...
Cheers, John
