Wash out at the ZOO....... but the show went on.....

Postby big pix on Sun Jun 19, 2005 6:57 pm

Attendance for the Zoo trip was down to only 3 members, 5 if you count in Mrs gecko and the young miss gecko, the other members were myself and Spooky. You would have to blame the rain.
We were lucky for the first 1 1/2 to 2 hours as the rain held off and we all made it to one of the many show areas, and a good show was put on, then the rain started to come down rather heavy. We were all thankful for the well covered areas.
As the rain did not look like giving up, myself and the tribe of gecko's call it a day and left Spooky to wander off with his trusty umbrella and his 80-200VR on the front of the D70.
So here are some pix's of the day........
The show is about to start......

Well done to you, bp, for persevering where others (including moi) faltered. And some of our newer members, the geckos, were also up to braving the elements.
Nice pix too, bp.
Edit: and Spooky too - sorry for the omission!

I am always up for a visit. Not on weekends and not during school holidays though. If it doesn't rain the crowds will shut you out.

Well done to the couple who did attend, you have my admiration.

Big round of applause to BP, Spooky and the Gecko tribe for braving the elements and waving the flag. Nice pix Bernie, especially the one of the smaller reptile - Gecko!

Nice work BP.
I decided last night that if it was going to be wet then I should get seriously wet and went diving off Fingal Head with the D70 in its plastic box. Was in search of grey nurse sharks but no joy sadly :?

Amazing bar crossing on the way home - waves as tall as a house  and then some.

Hopefully the weather will co-operate a bit more next time or perhaps we had better get an indoor meet scheduled to play with sb800's. Anyone care to suggest a date?????????

Thanks to Bigpix for taking the lead and arranging this outing.

Things were looking grim weather wise, but the D70 banner was flying high in the carpark (actually on the bonnet of Bigpix's car)

The rain stayed away enough to photograph the tortises (one of them was actually captured by Charles Darwin himself!)

This tortise is either really bored or is having an identity crisis and thinks its a tiger (viewer can add their own sound effects...)

Image

Spooky and Bigpix plan co-ordinate their angles - or are they just lost?

Image

Pity about the rain. The geckos still had a great time and from a photographic perspective, I think much can be learned from just watching others....

Roll on the next meeting - perhaps a Sat arvo in Bris?

Cheers

Little gecko feeding a goat....

First outing with the SB600 (got it on Friday).

The posted image looks pretty dull and soft. Might have to heed BigPix's advice and learn Photoshop!

I think an session working with the SB800 would be great. Even a weekday evening could be a possibility.
