S E Qld Xmas mini meet

Postby Oneputt on Thu Sep 29, 2005 9:40 am

I am organising a two date mini meet on the Sunshine Coast for the 31st Dec/1st January.

The idea is for shoots at different locations on the Saturday and Sunday with dinner on the Saturday evening.

Two possible locations are the Cooloola National Park (by 4WD) and the Noosa Everglades (by boat). Other locations will be investigated over the coming weeks.

To get some idea of numbers, if you are interested please indicate here. We will have visitors from the deep south as well, Nicole has confirmed her visit and Birddog has expressed interest as well.

The dates are non negotiable, I don't want to open up that can of worms

So lets hear from you and then you can put the dates in your diaries.

Zeeke, if it turns out as I expect we will hire a boat for the Everglades trip. we are not expecting people to provide their own transport. Depending on numbers there enough of us up here with 4wd vehicles to have that aspect covered.

Oh! I'll be back in town by then.

Shall see if I can make it, given it is New Years though. Do you really want to try and organise something on NYE/NYD though? I know you said dates non-neg, but still

Anyway, I'm interested. Since its Cooloola I would need to bum a lift - my Freelander doesn't go anywhere near the beach. Hiring a boat and doing the everglades sounds like an excellent idea as well. We could also look at hiring a 4WD - split it a number of ways and it does't work out much at all really, and saves those who own them the hassle of cleaning etc.

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

I know it is New Year, but what better date to have a dinner meet. No the dates are fixed, and Dion/Zeeke you have plenty of time to get organised - no excuses.

Great idea John.

Count me in. Could bring my tinny along too if needed.

Are we camping or are we going to try for some accomodation somewhere? Perhaps the Carvan/ Camping Village at Lake Cooroibah?

Just a thought.

Being New Years Eve I don't fancy having to get too far from where we have dinner 8)

It would be a great way to spend New Year's Eve but, unfortunately, my family has a regular long-standing gig each year for that event so I'll have to give this one a miss. :(

That being said, I'd like to be involved if other get-togethers were planned around that time to coincide with the visits of Nicole and other southern members.

I've booked my flights and I'll be coming up on the Mon 26th Dec and leaving Fri 6th Jan (have to be back at work on 10th Jan). Have to make sure I do the traditional shopping trip with mum. Other than that I plan to be out and about taking lots of pics!

OK this one is not getting a lot of response, so let me try another tack. Three seperate events.

Saturday - photo shoot Noosa Everglades?

Saturday evening - Dinner

Sunday - photoshoot Cooloola NP.

Come to one two or all three. Can we have expressions of interest please.

Okay I would be pretty much able to make Saturday, and possibly Sunday pending on NYE plans. Ideally I would stay up the coast, but I feel accomodation would be rather busy, so will probably commute both days (which could be a problem).

Sounds great. Considering I live there I will have to make the effort, so count me in at this stage. I will just have to confirm with my family about all three days.

New Year

Postby neroli on Mon Oct 03, 2005 10:46 pm

Hi folks.

I'm newish here but would love to join you all if that's okay.

I'm a bit concerned about accommodation too, and commuting might be a problem considering it's New Year.

I've got a small tent - any chance of 'parking' it on someone's back lawn? Could even sleep in the car if there's somewhere safe to park.

Cheers

Accomodation will only be a problem right on the coast. A very short drive away there are plenty of small B&B type operations, especially if you book early.

I was thinking that the Saturday dinner should be in the middle of the coast somewhere.

Oneputt,

You've never tried to book accomodation up that way, have you

Any long weekend is nigh on impossible. NYE is worse.

I will commute each day and give the dinner a miss, I think.

Hi,

I have been off line for a while as my computer died! Motherboard and HDD!!! lost quite a few photos...ARGH...I must learn to back up more.

Anyway I have been reading this thread for a while, and would like to register my interest (subject to clearance from my finacee) for Sat at least.

Has meeting place and time been set for the dates? Is there a registration thing we need to go through? or just turn up...

Arranging a boat for everyone on the second day I guess was always going to be a PITA.

Maybe we could still do two days - one on Cooloola, and one out to Imbil or something?

Anyway, I'm still keen on Cooloola 8)

Michael the meet will be a day trip through the Coloola NP by 4WD - it will not cost you a cent other than getting yourself to the Sunshine Coast. We may still go out to dinner but it will not be a big thing.

I am unsure if I can make it or not, however: If i were to be able to make it, I would not have any transport at all. Is it BYO transport, or are we all meeting up? If we are meeting up, then I may be able to train / bus to Noosa. Also, approx. what time would we be meeting?

Thanks
