National Police Rembrance Day is September 29th (NSW Sept 28th) where Police Officers who have paid the ultimate price for serving the community are remembered. There will be services and candlelight vigils Australia wide, check your states website for details.

This should provide some interesting photographic opportunites to capture, especially at the bigger services. It would also be a great opportunity, if we can put aside our personal concerns like parking tickets and getting caught for 6kmh over, to think of all the families who have lost a father, mother, child due to their public service. Whatever your personal thoughts on Police, it is nice to know that if you are away from home and your girlfriend, wife, partner, boyfriend, child have armed home invaders at the front door, these individuals are prepared to come and put themselves in harms way. Amazing really.

I was just having a read of that website and i was surprised at just how many police die whilst at work. It's quite scary really. It's a dangerous line of work. I take my hat off to them.
