WEEKENDER EIGHT 29-08-08 to 08-09-08

Postby Big Red on Mon Aug 25, 2008 4:47 pm

The aim is to pick 4 themes and everyone who wants to have a go at them can post up their 4 pics in the image section by midnight after the closing time and put a link from their thread into this thread.

Any DSLRusers Member who cares to can then vote for their favorite on the four themes and post up in this thread with any comments if they care to make them.

The Themes are:
Theme 1: ... communication
Theme 2: ... flower
Theme 3: ... culture
Theme 4: ... natural pattern

Voting lasts for 48 hours then i will tally up the votes and post up here.
If you win ... you get nothing but praise.
If you cheat ... you get nothing but Karma.
You cannot vote for your own pics.

Rules:
Pic must be taken in the Challenge Period by the entrant.
Any PP is allowed as the voters will say what is too much
Pic 800 on longest side.

We will start it at 5PM Friday 29-08-08 and close it at 8AM Monday 08-09-08.
Pics to be entered by 12 midnight 08-09-08
voteing to be from 12 midnight 08-09-08 to 12 midnight 10-09-08

Don't forget ... its just for fun so even if you didn't get a fantastic pic for a theme ... post it up anyway

Bugger! Once again I will be away that weekend and will not be back in internet range until late on the Tuesday night after (SandyFeet and I and others will be having a great time at a music festival near Gympie).

Have a great time everyone ... I will probably do some entries for myself with my trusty P&S just to see what I can come up with *smiley goes here but I am having vista issues on a friends computer!*

PJS and I are in the same boat as Louie, though sadly we are not going to a music festival.

Its our annual help-out-with-the-shearing trip to Uralla. We may be back in time. Not sure how long we will be gone, but the flower shot may well be of the stud ram (He is the flower of the flock after all :) )

Hmmm, SarahMac and I will probably be otherwise occupied this weekend, but we'll be away together next weekend, where we should be able to shoot a few nice pics of 2 and 4...

Great topics. Looking forward to having a go again.

Perhaps we could postpone for a week?

Can I add a plea to anyone reading this thread for the first time: Pick up your camera for just one day this weekend and have a go! We'd all love to see more entries, and it really encourages you to take pictures differently.

And the second plea: Even if you didn't enter, please take 10 minutes to vote!

I tried doing this assignment on the previous Weekender, because I never gotten around to completing all the themes so I never posted the pictures up. Is it still ok to just post 1 or 2 pictures instead of the 4 pictures? I didn't want to break the rules.. :|

Its a shame so many regulars will not be home this weekend.
It would be good if anyone registered their interest so we could get a feel for how many starters their might be

Jamie Oliver was quoted the other day as saying that "British culture involved getting drunk and buying big TV sets". I see an op here. I was going to use it myself, but have had other ideas since.

I'm taking the kids away this weekend, and including Monday, so my (and SarahMac's) entries will be in on Monday night, or asap Tuesday morning. Is that ok?
I will aim for earlier if I can get connected earlier.

Even with the extended deadline, I struggled to get this in in time. I guess a daughter having a wedding in two weeks can have that effect on one's punctuality. I know PJS is having even more trouble.

My entry at last  :

Theme 1: ... communication
Mr Darcy's post (ahem!), with a close runner-up rflower.

Theme 2: ... flower
ATJ's orchid is pretty cool, SarahMac's daffodils are great, but there's terrific light and colour in Dave-d40's entry.

Theme 3: ... culture
Big Red got a surprisingly difficult topic.

Theme 4: ... natural pattern
Wow, what a topic, and what terrific entries by all, which made choosing quite hard.
ATJ, because macro is hard enough to do, even without getting wet.

Hi All

I know I said i would compete in this Weekender but on Saturday I had was playing Footy (AFL) not that league or soccer game and suffered a major hit of concussion from a hard tackle I placed on someone. As I threw him to the ground, I too fell and heard a snap in my neck as my head hit the ground, and saw double for most of the weekend. Not really feeling to flash and hard to focus normally let alone through a camera lens. hehe. Anyways heres my votes so I can still participate in a round about kind of way.

Natural Pattern:- Paulmac

Thanks to all that entered. Some cracking shots, in particular the Natural Pattern Class

I well and truly missed this one even with all the extensions - due to lack of internet access etc today is the first chance I have had to log on to the forum since last month!

There were some fantastic entries here, congrats to everyone that was able to take part.

Looking forward to the next one :D
