Mid Month Madness

Postby Mr Darcy on Tue Sep 09, 2008 11:41 am

This is a blatant copy of Big Red's Weekend Challenges.
I felt the need for an additional one as it is often difficult to fit the time in on that weekend for P,P or P.

The aim is to pick 4 themes and everyone who wants to have a go at them can post up their pics in the image section by midnight after the closing time and put a link from their thread into this thread.
You don't have to attempt all themes. Just the ones you can manage.

Any DSLRusers Member who cares to can then vote for their favourite on the four themes and post up in this thread with any comments if they care to make them. You don't have to enter to vote.

The Themes are (For this month only I instructed the hat to only offer alliterative M-Words):
Theme 1: …moth
Theme 2: …mauve
Theme 3: …mayhem
Theme 4: …milk

Voting lasts for 48 hours then I will tally up the votes and post up here.
If you win ... you get nothing but praise.
If you cheat ... you get nothing but Karma.
You cannot vote for your own pics.

Rules:
Pic must be taken in the Challenge Period by the entrant.
Any PP is allowed as the voters will say what is too much
Normal posting rules apply. In particular, Pic 800 on longest side.

You may take and post photos at any time from now till closing

Pics to be entered by midnight Sunday 14-Sep-2008
Voting to be from Sunday 14-Sep-2008 to Tuesday 16-Sep-2008
Late entries will be accepted, but only until the first vote is cast.

Don't forget ... its just for fun so even if you didn't get a fantastic pic for a theme ... post it up anyway

As an extra challenge, you may try to get all four themes in a single photo. If you attempt this, post it in a separate thread. This will allow you to potentially get double votes.

Bump...
I have to say these are difficult topics. I've worked out what I am doing for two, but the other two are recalcitrant :?
I generated them electronically from the lists supplied by you, and didn't really look at them until this morning.

Still good luck everyone & don't forget you can post any time up to Sunday night.
As I am going away for ten days or so later next week, I have to wrap it up by Wednesday, so no extensions this time.

Moth: Big Red. That's a pretty hairy pet moth you have there...

Mauve: ATJ

Mayhem: Hard to choose this one as they all had merit. Mr Darcy, there's this website called eBay...

Milk: I like the "edgyness" (contrast & colour) in BigRed's BigMs (shot through glass, or post processing?), but MrDarcy's milk reminds me of a freshly poured can of Kilkenny, so it gets my vote.

The votes have been tallied and cross checked. Preferences have been allocated (Just kidding)

The Winners are:
Theme 1: …moth A tied result
ATJ 4, Big Red 4

Theme 2: …mauve
PJS 3, Big Red 2, ATJ 1, Mr Darcy 1, TonyT 1

Theme 3: …mayhem
TonyT 4, Big Red 3, Mr Darcy 1

Theme 4: …milk
Mr Darcy 4, ATJ 3, Big Red 1

A big thank you to all who participated, and especially Big Red for the inspiration
I know I learned heaps and had fun in the process.

I will run the next one in a months time probably starting on the 13th. Keep the themes coming in.

In the mean time, don't forget Big Red's next Weekend series in a couple of weeks.
