Meet In the country

Ok, Well I've finally decided to arrange a meet, I think that Mitchelton Wineries is a great place, not far from melbourne, bendigo, wodonga, seymour or shepparton. I was thinking of meeting there after lunch, maybe do an afternoon tea and tasting for those interested, and stick around to see what stands out for photo spots once the sun moves about. I was thinking Saturday the 22nd or Sunday the 23rd of January at 2pm? or 3pm? which ever suits most people.

Please add your input, if you can or can not make it, or if another day suits, eg a Friday or Monday. Your input is valued and we need it to actually make this meet happen, and if we stick around long enough we might be able to do some light Paiting of a vehicle possibly. once again it depends on all of the victorians who speak up!! :biglaugh:

Excellent, Lets make this happen and have a great meet with lots of forum users! -vics and interstate users!

Saturday is the missus' birthday so I better not book myself out that day.

Sunday 23rd at 3pm would suit me. I could drop the missus and kids at a friends near shepparton, or come up by myself..

I have a 7 seat car, so if dropping the wife off, I would have room for 1 or 2, and travelling solo, room for 4-6 extras. I could pickup from Western suburbs of Melbourne, or near Melbourne itself.

I am tempted, but it would be a three day trip for me.
Let me think on it.

Company would be nice for the drive.

Having only recently come back from nagambie (and other little locations around conurty vic) and spending our rest day on the great vic bike ride there (at the regatta centre) I can assure you that the wine from that region is very nice - I wish I could get down there, but it is a 7 hour drive - however I would love to get back down there again soon, there are lots of premo positions long the rivers and lakes down there for great landscape shots, especially now with all the nice rain in the last few months..

have fun guys/gals

Have you gotten the all clear from the winery?
It might pay to touch base with them rather than just showing up.

Company is good, but be aware that I intend to indulge in my other secret vice on the way down and back.

Plan ATM is to go via the Newell Highway down & the Olympic Way back. The Hume highway is BORING

This sounds good...your secret vice suits me. I guess this will mean we should start looking at organising stuff between us as well.....

I have t say I am still uncertain.
What is happening with flooding down that way?
If I come, I would plan to cross into Victoria at Tocumwal. On the map. that doesn't seem too far from Ecucha which has been in the news recently.

Greg, i've been doing some research, check out this link to the herald sun, all the flooding is more to the west of the goulburn valley region, the goulburn river peaked downstream last week so there's no reason the track down through Tocumwal would be affected, in echuca it was the Campaspe River that was flooding not so much the murray, so you shouldn't be affected if you decided to make your way down.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victor ... 5989812099

So at this stage these are the following towns underthreat as from the herald sun web site:

"The towns of Echuca, Quambatook, Culgoa, Boort, Durhum Ox, Calivil, Mitiamo, Donald, Wycheproof, Pyramid Hill, Allendale, Panmure and Darlington remain under threat."

Sadly my neighbours younger brother was swimming in the minorly flooded goulburn river region yesterday and went missing which is very sad. But IMO there shouldn't be swimming in flooded rivers especially an 8 yr old. But my heart breaks for the family.

But the winery isnt flooded, from what i can find out.

The website http://mobiletraffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au/floodalerts gives indications of closed roads across Victoria. I could not see any mention of Tocumwal (or the road from Tocumwal to Shepparton) on the vicroads site.

Well roads seem clear and will be around the region we're off to this sunday, If possible we may as well get there at 2pm and see how it all pans out, I popped in there yesterday as I was driving down near that way and had a quick look as it is by the Goulburn River, but its perfectly fine, no flooding there and the place looks like it'll be a fantastic venue for a casual meet, greet and shoot! Directions - As you come from melbourne head towards Shepparton and before reaching nagambie (just before the dual lanes end there is a left hand turn to go to the Mitchelton Winery down mitchelltown road keep going straight down until u pass the single lane bridge signs will tell u when to stop!!), if you get to the single lane way (on the GV highway), just turn around and head back along the GV highway and spot the signs! From North of the GV Highway head South through nagambie, around about 5km's and once on dual lane way stay in right lane and turn right at signs! Quite an easy place to get to!

SHould be a great day, it will be 32 degrees, and partly cloudy. Showers are predicted tomorrow and saturday so it should come up nice in the pictures!

No doubt we'll recognise one another by our camera bags! Please Travel safe, and look forward to seeing as many people there as we can!

Any one else is more then welcome to attend!
