Managed to snag an all areas pass for several sessions of the WRC last Friday in and around Coffs.

Excellent action photography! I like the first one best though I also like the 4th and 5th.

The first two of these literally yump out at you.

And the fourth one, with the chopper, car and person, give a great insight into how the sport is run these days.

Actually Gary you're close to the truth I think. I like watching the astonishing drivers parade their considerable skills, but the ever greedy money side of things spoiled a lot of the day. I won't talk about the pro photographers antics in the bush, but down at the special stage in town, there were so many photogs blocking the paying public's view, that it wasn't funny. I guess 5000-6000 attended the early evening stage, but the views were very limited simply because of the numbers of photographers grouped right in front of the jump etc. I said to my son at the time, why not let them have the first run to get their press photos, but then have them all nick off and let the paying mugs actually see something?

I'm not a pro photographer. I wouldn't want to be. Rant over. Normal communications have resumed.

We will now return you to your scheduled round of the NSW state rally championship.

It's been a very long time since I spent a night in a dusty forest, checking cars as they came through the control at way-past-my-bedtime-o'clock ... And even longer since I navigated one of them thar motor vee-hick-les.

Tsk tsk. State rally championships? My dear Mr Stark, this is World Rally Championship, the pinnacle of vee-hick-les racing throughout the world. Or at least northern NSW.

In all seriousness, these blokes are N-U-T-Z. Driving at 200 kph+ right next to giant trees is not logical. But they do it anyway. And the difference between Australia's best rally cars and the pro teams is amazing. Not saying the Aussie drivers are no good, but the cars themselves are something else.
