Sydney Bindimeet Sunday November 25

Postby gstark on Mon Nov 19, 2007 2:46 pm

For those of you who have been paying attention, you'll know that Bindi will be in Sydney this weekend.

In honour of the occasion, we're holding a Bindimeet in the city, starting at around 1pm.

Meeting place will be under the Pyrmont Bridge in Cockle Bay - that's the eastern side of Darling Harbour - at about 1pm.

We can retire to Chinatown for an earlyish dinner late in the afternoon, and those who are willing can wander on off to the Botany View Hotel for the SBS jam starting @ 6 - for some good blues music and different photo ops.

All aboard!

Yep.

Noticed and fixed my (one and only ever) error. :)

Saturday is the Feral Erection.

Sunday we're meeting with Bindi.

Some might say "same thing". :)

But I promise to be good.

Or bettererer.

Would love to make your acquaintance Bindi, but have a christening in Bathurst that day. Will be trying out some low light photography instead.

My loss (I think)

Not sure if I can make it or not, I would love to though as I have been very slack this year with the forum...

but in case you guys do not know there is the big Xmas parade moving through the city that day, starting at Wynard I think.

The city will be packed with families (guess why I might not be able to make it!!!) as there is a special chipmunk float direct from the USA

Not sure of the path or times, I think it is morning. If it is morning and you still meet that day I might try and get there after the parade.

I wasn't aware of this; thank you.

I will check, as it may impact upon some of my planned movements

So Rick and I will also most likely make it (provided the parade does not go to long and the kids aren't to feral!!!)

Gary - I think I only have your landline number, can you please also PM me your mobile if you don't mind so we can find you.

Looking forawrd to attending this celebrity sydney meet

OK .... the parade is certainly going to rain on my parade. :)

Or at least my arrangements.

The basics of the Chrissie Parade are that it starts at Wynyard and runs down George St to Liverpool St, starting at 11:30 am and finishing at 2:30.

From the City of Sydney website ...

This major event will bring together the community, raise funds for charity and give Sydney the Christmas celebration it deserves!" says Parade Organiser Anthony Mead. "We anticipate The Sydney Christmas Parade will become a part of Sydney, much like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is for New York, with exciting entertainment for the whole family.

Pardon my cynicism, but I suspect that this quote better sums up the event ...

A spokesman for Nestlé said the event would provide brand managers with the opportunity to increase exposure prior to the Christmas shopping rush.

Bottom line - we're full steam ahead. I'll need to work around this, especially for my parking arrangements. There should be photo-ops aplenty for those brave enough to venture towards George St during this event, as well as once we're in Darling Harbour.

As the parade finishes in Darling Harbour, the whole precinct will be overcrowded and full of people.

Deal with it. :)

Excuse the blondness.

Would the gathering be a kind of pub crawl type of occassion or do we actually bring our cameras along.

Sorry very new to this kind of arrangements.

Emily,

Yes. :)

...

Both. We'll start with our cameras, and hopefully degenerate shortly (and quickly) thereafter.

I've made noises about appearing and really hoped to.... but alas, the internal accounting gnomes refused me Sunday flights and Sunday night accommodation so I have to fly in on Monday and back out Tuesday morning.

A full day of tax on Monday from 10.45 - 7pm and then a group dinner.

The dinner is the best bit (Redoak) 8)

And I won't be up for breakfast either on Tuesday......

Sorry all......
