Picture of the week November 1 2005

Postby Geoff on Mon Oct 31, 2005 10:06 pm

Well, this week there were MANY photos to choose from for POTW. I remember when POTW started and there were half the members there are now.
Wading through the huge number of excellent images from the previous week is both a pleasure and a task that I enjoy, but it's getting harder!!
I have awarded this week's image to a newish member Marty, for his excellent image of the surf boat breaking through the waves at Bilgola. This is a fantastic action shot (thought it fitted the current challenge exceptionally well!) combined with water and a sense of fear, intrepedation and the 'wow'factor. It's pin sharp, exciting and...shot with a canon camera...no favouritism here! :). Put your virtual hands together for member Marty for what I think is a brilliant shot which I hope the Steyne Hotel purchases off him - enlarged and framed on the wall! Hopefully we will see Marty at a Mini-meet soon :)

Marty

This is an awesome shot. I missed this first time around (one of the virtues of POTW) and I'm glad I got to see it. This really gives lie to those who say the Canon gives soft images. This is so sharp my eyes are bleeding.

I just hope you've saved something even better for the current challenge.

Well done.
Peter

Thanks so much for all the praise you guys have for my photo.
It's a proud feeling to have my photo nominated as POTW, especially considering the superb quality of previous winners.
As you are aware, there was a little luck in nailing this shot, but the conditions on the day were almost perfect, especially as it was the first time I had really used that lens.
I will have to try hard now to get all my images to that level.
Thanks again for all you wonderful comments.
Only down side for me, I only wish I had entered this photo into the current 'Movement' comp, oh well.
Good luck to all the entrants in the comp, I am anticipating some fantastic entries.
And many many many thanks to the contributors of the prizes and the moderators who do such a fantastic job on the forum.
I always find the forum friendly, informative and fun for all of us with a similar (and expensive) passion.
