Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

This week's picture is a beautiful shot by Mal.

An excellent example of how a fisheye lens should be used and a stunning picture overall.

I normally do not like special effects lens, but this, as already pointed out, is a very good example of what can be done with a fisheye. Congratulations Mal.

Couldn't agree more about this week's choice. I was in awe when I first saw it. Like Oneputt, I don't normally go in for this sort of distortion unless it's really warranted and handled well. You've scored top marks on both counts, Mal. Well done.

Many thanks for all of your positive comments, and thanks Leigh for choosing my picture to be the POTW.
It was an awesome experience to be up on Table Mountain at sunset, and for any fellow travellers it is a must do if you go to Cape Town.
If you do go I’ll give you the number of my mate with the fish eye lens!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

A great shot. One of the best landscape shots I've seen on this (or any) site. Hope the images is now framed on your wall, it deserves to be!!!

Congrats, I've missed this one but its very cool, and a well deserved POTW winner. Great use of the fisheye, gives you the feel of "standing on top of the world".

Great shot Mal. Really good.
I also lived in SA but never went up Table mountain ( Too scared I would get mugged )
I spent 3 months at an army base in full view of Table mountain at Youngsfield.
Keep it up.
