POTW 3-Jan-2012

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

POTW 3-Jan-2012

Postby Matt. K on Tue Jan 03, 2012 6:39 pm

I have to give it to Cameron for this one...he took a chance with the difficult, (but beautiful), light and matched it with excellent composition...(the curves in the image compliment each other).
Well done Cameron!

Not taking anything away from the image, the photo looks like an old one from Cameron and the title suggests January 2011. Am I just daft?

I feel totally honoured to have finally cracked POTW, and against such stiff competition this week as well. Thanks Matt K!!

Patrick, this is an older image that I posted for the current Bi-Monthly Challenge (Sunset 8-1-12). I cant remember if I posted it back when it was taken......

**actually this image was originally posted back in Jun 2010

[url]http://dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=39495&p=418440&hilit=america+bay#p418440[/url]

and my BBCode seems to be OFF only in this thread for some reason.

Edit by Stubbsy BBCode fixed (BBCode and Smilies were both ticked as "Disabled" in the post options)

POTW is not necessarily a picture taken in any particular week. It is a picture chosen by a Key Member as being his or her favourite picture IN that week. It does not matter when the particular pic was posted but it is usually visible in postings around the time the Key Member peruses the latest posts. Hope that clears up any confusion. Once again Cameron....nicely done!

Irrespective of any faults with my memory, it is an awesome image with great exposure. I do love good contre jour.

My confusion was aided by the title before Peter's correction. To use a saying I hate "all good."

That explanation for the POTW certainly clears up many instances where I have thought the picture was from posted in a previous week. This classification seems fair enough as some images do hang around with discussion for many weeks.

Thanks Patrick!

Very nice Cameron, and yes, the light appears very difficult to capture in this instance. Ace image that anyone would be proud to have taken. Congrats on POTW.
