POTW 20/08/2013

Postby Matt. K on Tue Aug 20, 2013 10:47 pm

It was a tough pick this week as I liked 2 images very much…one from Rooz, a portrait of one of his sons and this one from Greg of a coriander flower…I chose Gregs image because of the immaculate technique and careful craftsmanship in capturing this incredible lick of flora. I'd wager that this is one of the finest images of this particular plant ever produced. It's the focus stacking that pulled it together and revealed all of that amazing fine detail. Good job Mr Darcy.

Congrats Greg, and yes, good choice Matt. I have never attempted focus stacking, but it seems like a difficult task. It's strange but in some ways flowers are difficult to capture. They just sit there and look at you, but getting the focus, colour, lighting and DOF right is hard to do. You've done well.

Why thank you folks. At first I thought it was a parsley flower until I remembered they're green, so I followed the stem back to a leaf and tasted one.
