POTW 27th May 2014 - Selection by Roozsy, aka ChrisK

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

It is a beautifully constructed image on so many levels. Gerry you've been knocking them out of the park...i am in awe of you mate.

but just to make sure gerry didn't get too big a head, mercifully at the last minute i was mesmerized by the elegance and timeless feel of PIro's tango image. what a freakin cracker of a shot !! the fact that there is one element in rapid motion that was caught by the photographer at exactly the right moment when everything else is stationary is an art unto itself. for anyone who has attempted tango, one knows it is a dance of fluidity and dramatic pause. both elements are captured here is one frame. the lighting is superb, the framing is spot on. and to top it all off...the boomified contrasty tones mixed with the grittiness and that oh so beautiful grain made me want to shoot Tri-X IMMEDIATELY.

well done Piro !!
