40D just got one

Postby matt_au_70 on Wed Mar 26, 2008 11:17 am

Hi all I dont post that much here , but anyway

After a lot of thought and bean counting I picked up a 40D (from a 350D) I was considering a 5D but that will have to be a end of year purchase.

So anyway , I do a lot of low light photography and I was wondering about the 3200 ISO setting , I don't like to edit my images a lot as I am a bit lazy that way , I shot in JPEG (more lazy perhaps but more scared of the work involved with RAW)

Does anyone have much experience with this and also the auto noise reduction?

Here is a couple I shot at ISO 1600 f2.8

The high iso speed noise reduction in the C.Fn II-2 does SFA, and slows down burst speed to about 6 shots in the buffer. I use noise ninja it seems to do a reasonable job at controlling chroma and luminance noise.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I have my doubts about the former.

Thanks for that , I read all about it and though I would give it a go but seems the opinion that it does 2/10's of sfa so will stick to a secondary programme.

Thanks Matt

I do like the lack of chroma noise with the noise reduction turned on.
