I have a 40D with some dust that won't give up. the auto cleaning does nothing and using a blower isn't cutting it. I've never tried sensor cleaning myself and am a bit of a chicken. Any advice for somewhere to go in Sydney's South West
or
option 2- stop being a wimp- if I do it myeslf what should I get?

Any advice would be apreciated.

go get yourself either:

-Pec Pads
-Eclipse Fluid

OR

-PhotoSol sensor clean kit

and then I would PM Matt K and ask nicely if he can show you how to do a wet clean. He showed me at a meet a while ago and I was shocked how easy it is. I recently cleaned my D60's sensor using PecPads and Eclipse on a spatula that Matt K prepared for me.

The first time you do it is nerver racking,
but then you realise that if you follow the
instructions carefully is not that difficult.
I have a 30D without a vibrating sensor
and dust is a curse. I bought myself a tool
kit with paper towels and sensor cleaning
fluid and a stick, which I have been using
for years.
I also got a sensor cleaning pen and a Klear
Loup, which I haven used yet. Good luck!

Just cleaned my ancient camera (never cleaned before).

I used a vacuum cleaner hose to remove loose dust after using the Gitzo on it. The Gitzo tends to move dust about a little.

Don't be surprised if you get some more dust after a couple of cleans. I found that I had to do about 5 passes to get it reasonably dust free.

Youtube has many videos showing you the technique with a spatula etc.

That would be the most expensive spatula you'd ever buy. Perhaps for the hubble telescope sensor...
