I treated myself for all overtime I've been doing lately and purchased the Canon 50mm f/1.2L.
I umm'd and ahh'd about buying it for a long time and thought the f/1.4 would be a good compromise, but in the end my pointless need for L glass won through.

Here's a shot taken wide open SOOC...

And a 100% crop...

As you can see the well know CA is there wide open, but I don't think that will be a big deal at real world image size.
Focus accuracy and sharpness seem pretty good wide open too.

Nice. I used to own a 50mm f/1.2 AiS which performed admirably on film. For some reason CA didn't appear to be an issue then, this whole colour fringing thing seems to have come in with digital.

Cheers
Steffen.

I've read (yet to confirm) that it's gone by f/1.8.

Wink, I purchased a 50L earlier this year (from B&H in NY). It is a spectacular lens. Stopped down a tad it becomes razor sharp, but is eminently usable wide open, which is why you bought it in the first place! :D

Congrats on the purchase.

P.S. I did sell mine eventually, but for no other reason than financial ones. If it was at all possible, I would have kept it. It is a huge hunk of glass with amazing optics.

Thanks for the positive review.
I'm looking forward to playing with this some more.
