Who prints your photos?

Postby Glen on Thu Sep 02, 2004 8:25 pm

Hi all, I am going to get a couple of larger prints done and was wondering if anyone had pet places they thought were particularly good? I have seen http://www.nulab.com.au in Melbourne recommended, but would prefer Sydney if possible as nicer to turn up and discuss, but ok if not.

Thanks

ps Leigh, no need to make me green with envy by telling me all yours are free with your course!

Ha Glen :D

I get all my poster print done at Fletchers here In Lismore.
They have one of the Epson large format printers & do a pretty good job.
As for my 6X4”s I do them my self on the Fujifilm CX 400.

Just ask were ever you get yours done if they can print in what ever colour space you are using, so you don’t get any surprises

Cheers
Ray

Ray, I think Lismore is overserviced with camera stores! :D Fletchers, Jon at The New Camera Store, does everyone get a camera when they move to Lismore?

You have that right mate

I only use Fletchers because of the printer that’s it mate :(
It’s unreal in this town for over saturation of some stores.
We have Jon, Fletchers, Quick as a flash & Camera house.
Down in Ballina “20 minutes away” there is another 2 or 3.
But the competition is limited, trust me I have tried the lot & I am more then happy with were I’ve settled

Cheers

I'm with Ray. I like the choice. No such thing as overserviced :) . I previously dealt with one lab for scans (don't have to deal with them any more) - otherwise The New Camera Store for gear.

Printing wise I have been dealing with nulab for years. I'm happy with their work.

I use Teds in Pitt Street (you know, that overpriced camera store). They use Afga machines which from my virgin experience with printing D70 pics in Malaysia, these seem to be my preference. They offer quantity discounts and there's also no shortage of coupons available either in their store catalog or Aussie photography magazines (ie. don't pay full price!)

I recently did a set at Adorama, cos they were 19 cents for 6x4 (US). Very happy with the results, expecially some dodge and burn stuff they did to overexposed bits. All images I sent them were straight out of camera jpegs, no processing or corrections. They charged me for the correct number of images printed, but they gave me 2 sets of them upon collection. :)

Jordan, what did you think of Nulab? Their website seems geared towards big volume guys. Do you just send down 5 or 6 prints or loads of prints? Do you think they want to deal with hobbyists like me? Thanks for any info you can give?

I print my photos (analog and digital)... but depending on how big you wanna go, some of the students at NAS use either The Lab or COFA's printing facilities.

Oh, maybe I should read the post more carefully... I thought it said "I recently did a set OF Adorama."

Yah, The Lab is in Waterloo.

COFA is the UNSW's College Of Fine Arts, and they have a printing facility on campus that anyone can pay for prints at... or rather, professional prints... as in they use Imacon scanners and those massive Epson printers I can only dream about owning, etc.
