Forum Abuse

Postby gstark on Mon May 06, 2024 10:39 am

Just as a FYI for y'all, and by way of an apology, last week I saw some server abuse by parties just trying to hack into the site. That cause nothing more than performance issues, but it was frustrating enough and continued for several days, so I decided to just shut the site down for several days.

I'm hopeful that the ratbags who try to perpetrate this sort of bullshit just go away, because I truly no longer have the patience for dealing with the crap that others seem to want to cause others for no good reason other than .... well, there's simply no good reason other than these arseholes just like to show off exactly what sort of useless dickheads they really are.

I'm truly hoping that it doesn't recur, because I no longer have the patience nor inclination to deal with this shit.

Cheers.

Thank you Gary. I guess those bastards must have been trying to steal emails.

I have no idea as to what they're wanting, but what I was seeing was basicially a denial of service attack, which you can see when the site's performance goes to shit.

I also see it in a couple of other areas; typically errors with the database connectivity due too too many connection attempts.
