Actually, it's true. We are psychic. My husband finds it quite disturbing.

Hey John,

Would you mind letting me know how you apply these in Photoshop. I have been thinking about trying a few curves (more for curiosity then anything else) and would liek to see the effect before adding them to the camera.

Is there a way you can take an image and then apply different curves in PP to see what it woudl have looked like out of the camera?

Cheers,

Raw Magick

Postby the foto fanatic on Thu Dec 30, 2004 8:20 am

I don't know whether all you curves users would have seen this site before, but they have software that lets you experiment with your curves to see the different effects.
This means that you can add or change a curve outside the camera. A downside with the D70, of course, is that you can only load one custom curve at a time. It is a bit hard to change curves in the field (unless you carry your laptop absolutely everywhere!)
Here is the url:

http://www.rawmagick.us/

Disclaimer: I haven't used it yet. But I have a friend who swears by it. I intend to download the new software, Raw Magick Lite.

Cricketfan,

I've been a Curve Surgery user for a while now, and bought Curve Therapy so I could get on the RMLite beta testing program as soon as it was available.

The big thing with this software is, it's the only means available to actually change the curve used to render the RAW file. All other converters (including NC) just add curve corrections on top of the curve used in the camera. Sorry if I'm preaching to the converted (no pun intended ), but I thought some might not know this.

RMLite has come a long way just recently, and I have had excellent communication with the authors. Highy recommended!

Cheers
