Looking like Mt oot-tha is going to get up here guys and girls. Simon, Anna would prefer Mt-Coot-tha.

------------------------------------------------------- So many things to do - so little time.
We can always do Bribie Island and Gold Coast on other occasions.
Now all we need to decide is a time and rendezvous point. One suggestion: 1.00pm at the front of the Kiosk/Restuarant for those who may have travelled further and would like a bite to eat/coffee etc, then 1.30-2.00pm at one of the top carparks for all participants? People can stay on as late as they wish - sunset light on the city might make for some good shots from the Summit lookout while we're up there... Simon

Bernie, Go to http://www.whereis.com.au Click "Get Directions" near the top. Input your address in the first box. Click on the Places of Interest tab at the top of the second box, then input Places of interest, Toowong, Qld. Hit "Get Directions" at the bottom. On the next screen, select Brisbane Botanical Gardens from the dropdown list and then continue. Should be all you need to get a detailed list of directions. Simon

Hi to all in this thread, I would like to come along to this outing. I had not previously posted as I was to be fishing a comp that weekend. Well looks like my outboard has put an end to that, and the chances of getting it repaired, or replaced by comp time are pretty slim to say the least.
So if I can put in a big maybe for the meet I would like to make it. Only 1 more hurdle and that is my sons sport and what time thet are playing. I should find that out next week. Fingers crossed Brett More fishing, more sport, more photo's Pentax 1stds
I'm working that day, and will miss lunch, but can make it by 2pm to start taking pics.
Look forward to catching up with some members and meeting a few new ones on the 29th April. Cheers Michael
Due to the fact my wife now has to prepare a lecture for Uni for the following Tuesday I might be able to make this mini-meet.
So keep me listed as a 'maybe'. I'll be up the top at 1.30pm. Have we picked an exact location? Up the top there is a lake with some 'totem poles'; I would suggest we all park in the carpark across from that? You go 'over' the hill; its on the other side. Should that car park be full, there is a smaller one just before it, and another one near the 'shed'/'office' on top of the hill. Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes. http://www.dionm.net/
Dion : Meeting at totem poles on top of hill sounds good. I often go up there and get away from the crowds down below. In the end, it depends on what others would like but sounds like a great idea to me Cheers Michael
I was up there today scoping it out and the totem lake carpark looks fine.

Bad news for me, My youngest son is playing afl that day and the times conflict with the meet. Hope you all have a great day, I was really looking forward to meeting some of you and learning heaps about portrait shooting.
At least I will be shooting heaps of aussie rules shots, lucky I enjoy sports Have a good one and I look forward to the posting of some of the shots Brett More fishing, more sport, more photo's Pentax 1stds
Bernie if you want I am just off the gateway road at Rochedale. If you want we can head in together. Alternatively I can PM you some directions to get to Mt Coot-tha, it is pretty easy from the SE freeway / Gold Coast.
Steve

I'm a bit in the dark about the exact meeting point...
Is this in the botanical gardens? A 'Google Earth' pointer location would help me a lot.... Cheers Gecko Nikon D70, SB600, Benbo Trekker, LSII, KingPano and a lot to learn!
thanks Steve....... Rel has sent me the directions, which are great, but if you let me know where we can meet up would be good....... and head off together............ Cheers ....bp....

A pub for the meet sounds great. We could still do the shoot by leaning out the windows.

Bernie if you get off the south east freeway at the Logan Road exit and turn right. Pull up on the left side of the road pretty much straight away and Simon & I will meet you there at around 1:00. Anna is trying to line up a 2nd model for us as well Steve

I will arrive at the car park around 1.30 I hope. I have Rel's number for if I cannot find anyone. I hope not to be any later but don't wait for me if I am. Craig Craig

Well, the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens portrait meet is still in full swing (I had to leave early). Great to meet new members, catch up with ones I had met before and learn some new portrait techniques.
Judging by the in-camera views we have had so far amongst the group, there will be some great pics posted soon. Cheers Michael
What a huge afternooon! Special thanks to Bernie aka BigPix for his expert advice, to our 3 models and to the 12 or so other forum members who turned up and contributed. Look forward to seeing lots of portraits, crappy duck and finger shots

It was well worth the drive down to Mt Cootha from the Sunshine Coast today to meet the Brissie crew and reaquaint with those I met at the Buderim Rainforest.
A good role up and enjoyable afternoon. I had expected to see a few posts up by the time I got home to Mooloolaba. Maybe you are all still up there having a few more Stella's. Any way here's one of my attempts at a portarait Would appreciate any feedback Bob G Bob

And on the minimeet day, Gecko said, "Let there be Lightsphere." The rays shone down from the heavens, illuminated the sacred dome and Gecko saw that it was good.
CraigVTR's daughter, Jennifer, agreed to do some modelling for us today as well. However, that didn't mean she knew exactly when a shutter was going to click... Anna beside the pond... More to come... Last edited by Manta on Sat Apr 29, 2006 10:43 pm, edited 1 time in total.
