Quotes of the day
If language is not correct, then what is said is not what is meant; if what is said is not what is meant, then what must be done remains undone; if this remains undone, morals and art will deteriorate; if justice goes astray, the people will stand about in helpless confusion. Hence there must be no arbitrariness in what is said. This matters above everything. ~ Confucius

This cenotaph is the Tomb of Pope Julius II, an architectural and sculptural marvel, even in its reduced form, by Michelangelo Buonarroti. It is in the basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome. Pope Julius II commissioned Michelangelo to design his tomb in 1505, but the work was several times postponed; there were six projects, and did not begin until 1542. It took till 1545, more than forty years to be completed. Pope Julius II died on 21 February 1513.
