Thanks to those who have already confirmed:
 Xerebus
 Oneputt
 Boxerboy
 SteveB
 JordanP and, of course,
 Me.
Haven't heard yet from Leigh999 or Grev.
I've booked a table in the Breakfast Creek Hotel's Spanish Garden restaurant for 10 people at 12 noon, on the 27th. The booking is under the name of 'D70 Group'. I can hear the steak sizzling even now....
Could those that would like to come but haven't confirmed yet please let me know as soon as you can in case I have to alter the booking if we get more than 10. Come on, don't be shy. See you there!
 Simon

Look forward to meeting you and all the rest of the crew.Craig

Haha, I have the kit lens & the Tamron 70-300 Macro. Although because I'm going to the Joe Satriani concert, I'm going to buy a 50mm f1.8 sometime soon, so I can do some photojournalism. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'm the least experienced photographer here, so yeah...

for photojournalism you can't go past the nikon 28-70 f2.8D.... very very nice and highly regarded as 'the' photojournalist lens...

But you know, like only 1% of people can afford that with a blink of an eye... I was thinking more with some prime lenses for photojournalism...?

okay.... what about the 85 f1.8D... it's only around $400 and a great length for concerts... you may struggle with the 50mm depending on how close you can get?

That's exactly what I was thinking of, because it's at The Arena (in the Valley), and it's a small venue compared to like the Exhibition centre, I was thinking of going there a lot earlier and get in the front row and get some good shots in. Also I heard that the 85mm 1.4 is one of the best primes ever made, I so want that but haven't got the money of course, I can get the 85mm 1.8 though, although for the same money, is the 50mm 1.4 better?

that really depends on what you're shooting.... personally i don't think the 85 f1.4 is worth the extra $$$$$$ for one stop...
might want to start a new thread if you want discussing this... there are plenty of other photographers out there with a view, and we're chatting about this in the wrong area...

I know I know, or should I say, we know we know... Actually I was comparing the same price $400 for the 85mm f1.8 and the 50mm f1.4 lens, but anyway...

Hi fellow Queenslanders and Northern New South Welshpeople
I am unable to commit to any advance arrangements at the moment due to the recent onset of a severe illness and very poor prognosis of my wife's elderly father. Relatives are flying in from Sydney for the weekend and I am the family taxi driver.
I see Xerubus will be there with a nice Guinness for everyone but I'm sure you will all have a great time.
 Cheers

Thanks for your kind thoughts Xerubus. Not looking good though unfortunately.
Anyway, you did say a Guinness for everyone hehe - read your earlier post, but I know you didn't mean everyone but your post just read that way Anyway, I passed the Brekky Creek twice today on the way to the airport run and on each occasion I had a wistful 'hope everyone is having a terrific time" thought.
 Cheers
