Mini Australia Day comp

Postby stubbsy on Fri Jan 23, 2009 3:22 pm

As suggested by Philo AKA Mrs Matt K.

"We are over the New Year fireworks, coming up will be the Chinese New Year and the DSLR Forum 2X2 followed by Valentine's Day. But first we have to get over Australia Day. A 'mini competition' for the best Australia Day image is being conducted in this post.

There will be two prizes, a photographic book and another prize of a photographic DVD (I know not quite as exciting as Glen's Wolf Eyes torches). All you have to do is take a photograph reflecting Australia Day. It would be considered tacky to post before 26 January 2009. Seeing I know nothing about photography, I shall be the judge. I shall trust you to take the photo on Australia Day, you will have to trust me that I am an impartial judge..... though I can be bribed, but bribes shall have to be much more than the cost of the prizes, so you will be wasting your time. This mini Australia Day competition closes 5pm Friday 6 February. The winner will be announced at the First 2009 2X2 meeting at Minnamurra Rainforest/Falls on 7 February 2009, and then on this forum , I shall post the prizes to anywhere in Australia.

So if you want to be a part of this mini comp, add your Australia Day image onto this post. All correspondence and comments will not be entered into. The judges decision is final. Thank you to Peter for letting me highjack his postings

Cheers Philo aka Mrs MattK "

And Mine:

Image

Haven't seen Leonard Cohen live before (I guess not many of us Aussies have), but I came away highly impressed by the quality of the open air sound, not to mention the energy and friendliness of this 74 year old legend. I can't remember the last time I came back from a concert without having to wonder how much of my hearing I've wiped out.

Sorry it's such a snapshot, I was there for music and family.

This is from a disappointed Philo:

"The mini Australia Day competition could only be described as a huge flop with only two entries and one late entry. I would have thought there would have been more interest but thems the breaks. Thank you to the two winners, ATJ has won the war Photography video, which was given to him at the 2X2 Minnamurra Rainforest Walk last Saturday, and Photohiker wins the photographic book (Photohiker can you PM your address to Stubbsy so I can send you the book via Aust Post). Big Red, unfortunately you entered your shot after the competition closed. Best wishes Philo "
