IMT - March 2 2009

Postby gstark on Mon Mar 02, 2009 12:11 pm

Due to a death in the family, I'm in Melbourne overnight tonight.

I'll be staying at my usual digs on Lygon St, expecting to get there around 7 - 7:30ish.

Who's free for some dinner and a quick get together?

At SYD now .... Mr Branson's planes are running about 30 minutes late, for which they sincerely apologise.

And I've just booked a stuffed from Mr Avis; pick up at the airport. That should permit me maximum time in town, subject to the Hyundai not falling off the road due its vastly superior suspension and handling. Can you believe it? $78 or thereabouts for a bloody Getz for just one day! Ouch! Still better than a cab though.

Just wait till you drive it Gary, I bet you'll be adding this to your Sigma/canon acquisitions. :biglaugh:

Hyundais are already down there, with the worst of them. Last time I drove one, it wanted to just fall off the bloody road. That was while I was still driving Alfas.

Today I'm in an Astra. Better than a Stuffed, but with just 26K Klms, there are a few vibrations, ans the tranny feels strange - D seems to want to engage after releasing the brake, rather than staying engaged.

Does this have a eco-mode, where it perhaps disables some cylinders?

Seeing as how nobody wants to meet me for dinner (plane landed a full half hour late) anyone up for breakfast, or has Melbourne closed for Autumn?

In my very limited experience, that is to be considered normal. Even expected. :)

I was actually surprised at just how noisy this car was, to the point where I was wondering if the Astra is now being sourced as a rebadged Viva.

No, it wasn't quite that bad. Close, though.

Trannies can feel strange when you aren't used to them (or so I am told)
