Fuji sensor size?

Unless they get too big for themselves, this is where you can talk about the "other" brands of DSLR's: Konica Minolta / Sony, Pentax / Samsung, Olympus, Horseman, etc.

Fuji sensor size?

Postby Dug on Thu Jan 05, 2006 9:14 pm

I am trying to find the sensor size of the fuji f9000z and the e900 9mp cameras.

Fuji and DP review quote

1/1.6-inch Super CCD HR Total pixels: 9.24 Million Pixels

IS that 1/16th of an inch or 1.6 inches

I imagine it is more likely to be 1/16th but still is that square or diagonal or length ?

I am trying to advise a friend on a camera to photograph art works with.

A quote from: http://bobatkins.photo.net/photography/digital/fuji_e900.html

The Fuji Finepix E900 is the "little brother" of the Fuji Finepix S9000 Both cameras use Fuji's 5th Generation Super CCD HR sensors which have both small and large pixels in the array to increase dynamic range. The 4th generation Super CCD HR sensors had good performance with better than average noise performance at high ISO settings, so it will be interesting to see how well these 5th generation sensors perform. The sensor size is designated as 1/1.6", which corresponds to approximately 8mm wide by 6mm high (4:3 aspect ratio), still significantly smaller than DSLR sensors (typically something like 22mm wide by 15mm high).
If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??

On a P&S, you shouldn't really be worried about sensor size.

It doesn't really make a difference.
