200mm F2 is new today.

I think I am going to like this lens.

 Re: D3 -- 200F2Hi and welcome Sylvia.

If these are your first images, I really look forward to seeing what you produce once you get used to it. Greg

 Re: D3 -- 200F2Hi Sylvia,

What Greg said. With the first image, I'd like to see it reshot, but in portrait orientation, and with the drain pipe (I think - the vertical lined object on the left of your subject) as the lh edge of the image. g.

Would that be a thing called a fence? (or maybe side of a garage)
Re: D3 -- 200F2Hi guys, I agree, but geez, I put them up to show DOF and what I can expect from when I use it in anger. Don't hammer me yet till I have spent more than 15mins with this thing. These have been all wide open, and the son is just not interested in modelling while I fuss around. Anyway from the few moments I have had with chubby, I think its an insane piece of glass. I agree with the comments however. Thanks.

Re: D3 -- 200F2The results, providing these pictures have not been tweaked, are very promising.

Hint, to get your son to cooperate play with his vanity as much as you play with your new lens. age.
 Re: D3 -- 200F2
No tweaking, the only PP is a crop from the originals. I've discovered the DOF can be made as narrow as a knife. Might whack a TC on it and see what happens next. ![]() ![]() ![]() Nikons.

Re: D3 -- 200F2I love the fence posts! Looks like that chubby chunk of glass is yet another drool-worthy lens that I would love to get a chance to handle.

Re: D3 -- 200F2Wow nice contrast, color and DOF!

		How heavy is this one?
Re: D3 -- 200F2These last three are superb. I like your framing, colours, and sharpness.

However I think it would be a pitty to discard them. You could improve them with some cropping making him more prominent and removing as much of the background as possible and perhaps converting them to black and white. Why don't give it a try?
 Re: D3 -- 200F2
It weighs 4.742 KG with the D3 and straps attached. The DOF is just amazing. Can't wait to get it out and about. ![]() Nikons.

Thanks for the tips. Here's one, but I'd like to make it tighter. All these are hand hand. ![]() Nikons.

Re: D3 -- 200F2Sylvia, these last two are terrific.

I like that cool pose of your son. It's a very interesting picture. You did well. I like the black and white conversion better than the colour one. I think you've done a great job and because it's a black and white it adds to the general mood. Keep playing with that lens of yours and I look forward to see what else you can do with it.
Re: D3 -- 200F24.7kg! I suppose you can get a workout while using this one.

 Re: D3 -- 200F2Well,

I am just blown over by this lens. Not much to add, and thanks for the kind words. Took a few of the daughter riding a couple of our younger horses. It makes my eyes water how crisp this thing is. Hand held F2 in .jpg fine. No pp except cropping. ![]() Nikons.
