Here are a few shots taken using the recently purchased Nikkor 17-55 f2.8, needless to say my new favourite toy.

Great shots Geoff

How much, if any, PP have you done here? The lens looks wickedly sharp and the contrast is brilliant. :D

This is the 24-70 equivalent isn't it? It is absolutely brilliant stuff! Maybe you won't need a 50mm 1.8 anymore...

Hi Simon

The first photo has had a boost in saturation and a vignette added.

The second has had a local adjustment brush applied to the front wall of the building just to increase exposure a touch as it was in shadow. (I used a CPL on this shot also).

The third has had no PP work.

All shot in RAW, converted to jpeg and resized for web.

I don't actually have one! Have always meant to, but never got around to it. I don't think I will bother now, although the bulkiness of the 17-55 is far greater than a nifty fifty.

Then you don't how it feels to get similar quality/toned images from a $100 lens... :P

Lovely tones in that first image btw.

I really love the first pic, especially the purple color, what a contrast to the wood underneath. i see a message in the pic (it's my thought only ;P): every modernized painting, architecture would have to face the day they depreciate and deteriorate.. same for the mankind! so.. do treasure ur time right now and live your life fruitfully :D :D

thanks for sharing

I like these, looks like you and your lens have got off to a great start. Love the scribbley gum detail shot.

I like them all, but I prefer the first one.
It might be the texture conveyed in a two
dimentional image and the contrast of
the dominant colours. Well done! As I
leanrned the hardway in this forum a good
lens can work wonders in your photography.

That first shot is very nice and the treatment you have given it is just right.
