I don't actually think the D200 exists... :)

Every time I speak to anyone in a camera shop it's always 'Nikon Tells Us Two Weeks'...

Obviously Australia doesn't count very big on Nikon's priority list.

HA HA HA HA!
You'll never believe this. I asked for my tally last night and I have only 160 dollars to go before I have paid it off!

Too funny.
I'd just like to remind everyone involved that there is a global shortage and the only people to blame is Nikon for making such a desirable product and underestimating it's popularity.

I'm not sure that I've mentioned this already, but when I was in Melbourne for the C'Games, I was told all sorts of stories about people trying to buy D200's and shops only taking orders.
One guy from a cruise ship was desperate to get one. The situation it appears is the same all around the world except, (no surprises here) that the USA seems to have a decent stock of them. ( Well at least there aren't the same kind of complaints about people having to wait.)

So by the time that I get mine, I will have all the batteries for it charged, the manual printed, read and put in a folder, the new lenses tested on the D70 and the charging holder sorted so that I don't have to pull the AA's out of the tray.

You can see why Canon has so many users. When they announce a camera they back it up with sufficient supplies so that their customers can get their hands on them.

I think if your D70 is working OK, keep it and wear it out as it is worth little second hand or as a trade. Buy a D200 next year when the heat is off and a few more are in stock. You'll be able to bargain better and there is less chance of tech probs with the first batches as with D70 BGODs Nikon did the same with the 70-200 which became a fantom for a while. Now there are a few around in shops.

As I said to my good friend who just purchased a D30 a few weeks back, for me this is the year of the new lens and next year is the year of the new camera...unless of course I accidentally walk into a shop and quickly get talked into trading my D70...all bets are off.

Going back to the first post in this thread, just wondering where I am on the list, and how many you have on order?
Or have I overlooked a list of D200's ordered somewhere else in the forum?

tasadam,
You're 7th on the list.
And the number 9 is the last, I didn't take any more BO from this forum.
I have 45 BO on Corporate list, and the 9 souls on the forum have to get their toys first whenever I got hold of stock from Maxwell.

Again and again, if we have enough supply as promised, we never end up waiting so long like this, I regreted that I took all the backorders from you guys, I'm not living in my freedom anymore

Beg to differ on this.........bought my D70 (Body only) from HK for just over $1100 and sold it (replaced with D2Hs) on Ebay for $990. The D70 is and will continue to hold it's value for a while yet. IMHO

Is 10 lucky for anyone? Cos it's not working for me so far!

I notice Teds camera in Brisbane are advertising D200s coming in May. Hopefully this is a sign there is a batch on the way to Australia. I hope Birdy gets allocated atleast enough for his loyal DSLR customers.

Hey! everyone can put advertisement like that but how many will be in their hands and will it be the truth, then it's a difference story.

Maxwell can say or promise anything they want to, but when will they receive their stocks is another answer.

Back to bed and have a good night!

I ordered one when I bought my D200, 2Gb mem card and Nikon 105 Micro (not the VR, t'was back in January).
Nikon lens and battery came from HK, and mem card will be sent with D200 when D200 arrives from Nikon.

Great price too!

OK time to be moderatorly. I have just split this post in two.

If any post is made here that is not one of the following it will be deleted:

- announcements by Birddog regarding pending availability of D200 stock
- announcement by Birddog that preorder stock has arrived
- questions about the D200 preorder list

A new post can be found HERE for gripes about availability of the D200, gloats you have one or hot tips on where to obtain one.
