Sneaky lot, aren't you?And talkative lot too, it seems!
I just noticed that the total message count for the board has just nudged its way over 100,000 posts. That's a lot of messages, and a lot of words, and a lot of images too. And mostly, it's all been meaningful and helpful for others. Congratulations, y'all! g. And what fun it's been along the way, here's to another 100,000 posts Geoff Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.

By next year will be 200000! Cheers all! Birddog114

That is actually quite true too. On Monday of last week we hit 1100 members - while I was at Birddog's, in fact. Yesterday, just 9 days later, we hit 1150. Keeping this place as friendly as it is and has been while we grow is going to be a fun process. As I'm sure a few of you have noticed, that's becoming more of a challenge because, as the membership levels grow, we will - it's really an expectation - get a small number of village idiots who may try to disrupt things. The trick is to catch and isolate, and hopefully educate, those VIs before they become a pain in the posterior. Let'sa hope that the numbers of these stays nice and low. g. While I'm sure we'll always have a few VI's and lots of lurkers a friendly community such as this will always attract like minded people. With the recent name change it will be an even more inviting community to prospective members... I know I'm always referring other photogs (amateur and pro) to check this place out. For a 1yr old forum have so few flaming wars it's quite an achievement to congrats to the admins and moderators. Michael

Out of interest do you have any other stastics, for example out of those 1150 how many are active. Also out of those who register, how many of them never return? Do you do membership pruning on inactive accounts? Darryl (aka Kipper) Nikon D200
There are 555 users who have made at least 1 post, which leaves around 598 (at the time of posting this) who haven't.
I know at least 2 people who won't be coming back out of that lot. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au Contributor for fine magazines such as PC Authority and Popular Science.
Congrats to you Gary for providing such an awesome place for us to come and waffle and pick holes in each others pictures Great first anniversary. However, you do know what this means. We are all suffering from the same problem; too much time on the net and not enough picture making!! Rob Smile; it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
Ahh.. Lies, Damm Lies and Statistics 100,000 posts is very impressive and a quick look throught the memberlist provides the following stats: The top 1% of posters (11 forum members) have contributed 37.4% of all posts. The top 2% of posters (22 members) have contributed 52.3% of the 100,000 posts Yep, a talkative lot If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??
 Re: Sneaky lot, aren't you?
Speak for yourself Oops... guess you have been...
Yes, the forum is expanding quite quickly. I am barely able to keep up with all of the posts. If I don't check the forum for a few days, there can be over a 1000 or so posts for me to try and wade through. If I don't catch those posts the first time I log in, I often miss them entirely as they don't show up again except for on the short list on the side of the front page. Is there a mechanism whereby one can list the most recent posts? (more than the ones listed on the front page). Julian

Joolz, I agree with you entirely. Sometimes I wish there were no sections in forums, just one big forum so at least I knew which messages I read and which I didn't just by going into one forum and seeing bold vs plain titles. Alex

Actually, one of the best setups for this that I have seen is DiveOz. The forums let you do a search based on the number of days/hours back you want to see new posts. Im forever accidentally hitting the refresh or having to hunt for posts at home that I saw at work but didnt have time to read or reply to. Smile; it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
There's always the RSS feed, you know. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au Contributor for fine magazines such as PC Authority and Popular Science.
Seek you the nifty little front page and look for the orange XML picture near where it tells you about how many posts are new... Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au Contributor for fine magazines such as PC Authority and Popular Science.
LOL. Thanks Leigh, I found it when I went hunting for it. Still not QUITE what I was meaning though. The good thing about the search on DiveOz is that you can show a list of TOPICS that have had new posts in the last x hours or days and they are bolded or unbolded, depending on whether you have read the entire thread or not. I might be able to simulate this somehow with a better RSS aggregator though. Smile; it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Nito Just do it. No meet next Saturday, but there'll be one real soon. Come along. Were a few new faces this weekend and they seemed to be having fun Peter Disclaimer: I know nothing about anything. *** smugmug galleries: http://www.stubbsy.smugmug.com ***

Okay, stubbsy I'll go to the one immediately after the wedding (after 1st week Nov). From the sound of things it would be fun.
