It must be the night of the frogs

They are everywhere. After seeing Tim's superb series posted this evening I wasn't even going to bother.

I'd love to say I slithered around in the mud to get a really tough shot but this fella was sitting on a shrub inside next to the TV so I stood up and walked across the lounge room. Couldn't resist.

There are another couple on a plant in the bedroom and one has even found it's way into a birdcage and is keeping the Cockatiels company.

Cute little critters ain't they

Spent a few minutes taking out the flash relections in this shot. What do you think. Is it worth the effort? I tend to think the photo seems more natural without all the reflection. Might have to revisit the others

Nice work Mr Slider. You guys must be stealing all our rain up there (Nambour 75mm yesterday!!), though we're managing to get a bit back from you today.

I like the first, though I would like to see a little more DOF. Second shot is a cracker but I must admit the third doesn't do much for me.

Mark - some excellent shots there, I think taking out the flash was definately worth it. These are the sorts of images you see on the covers of magazines such as National Geographic. Incidently what were you watching on the TV that the frog was so engrossed in? Kermit?

love the first 2. I feel the 3rd is weaker than the other 2 though.

the first is may favourite but love the comp on the 2nd
not to mention saturation.

If I wanted to be picky, I would suggest taking card of the hot spot on upper lip and eye, but these are minor.

the third suffers a little from lack of eye contact but is still cute.

Thanks folks. The 3rd was more an exercise in PP to remove the flash reflections.

Here is the original untouched (apart from resize). I picked this image as it had the least reflections so was easier to modify. I think it has prompted me to spend a bit more time on some of the other images. He had a bit of balled up spiders web stuck to him which also got cloned out.

You killed my frogs...

I went down into the tree farm while it was raining.... spotted 4 species of frogs... heaps of those graceful tree frogs... a few Striped marsh frogs and a few Green tree frogs.. and another one i dont know but it was small and brown and made a click click click call.. brought a green tree frog home.. but because he was brown.. all the photos came out dirty and nasty.. so.. u killed me

Nice photo's green tree frogs always make interesting subjects, they have such attitude

I thought number #2 was the best of the original three. Not sure about the images with the flash reflections removed, seems to have lost something.

The DOF of Number #1 is perhaps a bit short but is still a great capture. Number #3 just didn't do anything for me.

Shots no.1 and no.2 are great, with no.2 being my favourite. The composition is just superb and you have chosen a great angle. That Sigma macro is doing wonders, eh?

At least this current set of shots has the frog looking life-like...........
