 I'm in heaven.
Picked up my 30D late yesterday afternoon and I've done nothing but stare at it since (ok, I lie, I did help cook dinner and didn't open the box until after we'd eaten, I had to improve the WAF somehow).
It is a thing of beauty.
Apart from a brief scare with Err99 which was resolved by cleaning the contacts on my lens & the camera (thank's to Richard's Notes ), everything is wonderful.
I'm simply amazed at the quality of images I'm able to generate without even trying hard - a reward for my week's worth of concentrated practice with my film 500N I guess The 580ex is also a thing of joy - I'm looking forward to learning how to use it properly -but in "paparazzi mod e", it scared the living daylights out of my wife *sighs contentedly*
None of the lenses I wanted (EF 17-40mm f/4 L USM and EF 50mm f/1.4 USM) weren't in stock, nor was the tripod or backpack - hopefully they'll be in early next week - meanwhile I'll be slumming it with the horribly slow EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 and 75-300 f/4-5.6 lenses from my old 500N.
Such a great time to own a new camera in Adelaide - we've got the Adelaide Film Festival (presented by my wonderful employer and a host of other worthy organisations), the Adelaide Fringe , the 500 and womadelaide , to name just a few key events this month and next!
Well, back to getting my website working so I can publish some of this stuff Cheers
 Leigh

Looks like it doesn't like my old lens very much (Err99 is back).
The 75-300mm is perfect, works every time.
The 28-80mm is fine in all mod es except when I have the flash on (or if I'm in M, then I get Err99). Will see what the folks at the shop can do for me - other than that, I may have to go elsewhere to find someone who has a lens in stock).
 Cheers

Leigh - congratulations on your new acquisitions. I see that your are burning the midnight oil. Can't put the new camera down hey Internode customer here.
I am heading off to the Clipsal 500 next Saturday morning at about 9:30am (General Admission) and will be purchasing at the track a rear Pit Pass, so may see you there.

I wasn't, but ended up there at lunchtime today because I was unhappy with the results from using my old lenses - no substitute for good glass!
I ended up walking out with far too much (broke the news to the wife over the phone just in case - was a good idea it turned out - if you don't hear from me for a while, check the 'tiser obits).
 Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L USM
 Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM
 Manfreddy 055ProB & 808RC4
 Hoya pro1 UV(0) filter
Lowepro Toploader 70 AW with an LC3 for the zoom.
Took it along to a 40th birthday lunch today, results here .
 Cheers
