Nikon FE Trip REPORT!

Postby aim54x on Tue Jan 13, 2009 10:02 am

Just thought I would start this thread here as the other one is getting very hard to follow in terms of where the camera is with all the people confirming their interests in participating.

I received the camera on Friday 9th Jan 2009, the shutter was uncocked and the there was ONE showing on the camera.

I sent the camera to Pa (via Express Post) on Monday 12th January, I was an idiot and cocked the shutter out of habit (Sorry Pa) so the camera should be showing THREE shots (3rd shot to be taken) when it arrives.

Cheers

May I suggest to cut off the postage stamps or barcode from the sender and pack with each time its sent, in the end the FE should have 35-36 "stamps" on its passport...

Wendell, it is extremely unlikely that it would get to you by the 3rd - you are about 17 places away from Pa, so, allowing 2 days per person, that is well into Feb. I can move you up the list to sit behind Firsty before it goes up the "ahem" mountains.

I thought of that, but thought that March is over 6 weeks away, and it could be waiting for you for a while. However, thinking about it further, why don't we leave the list as is, but swap you and Yi-p around - we can then wait for you to tell us you are back in town and he can then mail it to you. 6 weeks can fly very quickly.

Thanks Pa.

Hi Wendell, to avoid confusion - I have put you at the end - you will receive the camera in March when you get back. Just let us or Yi-p know as he will be sending it to you. It still has to go via Melbourne & Brisbane, so it is likely to be delayed by them. :D

I received the camera from Firsty. He delivered it in person, so to reward him for his trouble, I found an old jar of Pablo in the cupboard so I could treat him with some coffee

I've been reading (if that's the right word) some Ansel Adams, so I took a Landscape, sadly not of that calibre though.
Mind you, I figured the subject was moving slow enough that if I accidentally used the timer release, it would stay in focus :). Of course I still had to contend with my ancient eyes, so no guarantees

Passed the camera on to colin_12. Delivered in person.
Shutter count 5 after my attempt PS had to fight pjs off. She wanted a go.

OK, Camera now reads 6 shots taken. The weather was not right to my intended shot so had to go for plan b.
This shot should be slightly over exposed Patrick. Only half a stop.
I will deliver it to Andrew tomorrow morning.

That's ok, Colin as the film is somewhat tolerant of that.

My shot, #8, taken and film NOT rolled on. All packed and ready to be sent south of the border 8) to Ant.

Didn't check my horizon on this one, probably will be seriously listing clockwise

Interesting exercise, had to apply the "Reciprocity failure factor" for Tri-X as I needed a longish exposure.

I also took a digital photo with D200/20mm and the B&W card that I got from the forums a while back. I'll post that one on the forums with the final product from Patrick, see how they compare.

Update: Express Post'ed 22/01/09 to Ant

Cheers,

André

Shot taken Sunday night, not entirely happy with the digital verison, will be interesting to see how it looks on film. Packed uncocked, counter reading #9. My wife is on her way to the PO to send it out Express Post as I write this so it should reach Wayne tomorrow (long trip from Lyndhurst to the City).

Sorry it is a day late, there was some sort of national celebration yesterday for all these Aussies around here

Ok guys, revised list below - doesn't really have any impact on anything:

1. Reschsmooth
2. aim54x
3. Pa
4. Firsty
5. Mr Darcy?
6. colin_12
7. ATJ
8. radar
9. Ant (member for 3 years)
10. PiroStitch?
11. Antsl
12. Oz_Beachside?
13. rflower
14. Critter (member for 2 years)
15. Oneputt
16. foonji
17. Paul
18. Geoff
19. dviv
20. Yi-p - wait for Wendell to return before sending.
21. Wendell
22. CraigVTR

And I have just realised the Melbournites have already mucked up the order:

10. PiroStitch?
11. Antsl
12. Oz_Beachside?

I need this order so I can tag the scanned images with the correct shooter. I don't care if you change the order, you just have to let me know, as per Craig's recent email in the other thread. If you did let me know & I didn't pick it up, my apologies.

Hey guys, where are we up to with this? Last status update was a PM from rflower about whether to pass onto CraigVTR or post to Critter.

I still have it. Didn't get in contact with CraigVTR whilst he was here. I will organise to get his details and post to critter.

Sorry about the delay.

That would be appreciated as it has been in Melbourne for about a month and a half and I am keen to get the results.

Cheers
