Monitor callibration

Hi,
I was about to hire Spyder to callibrate a new laptop and wide screen monitor but one of my work friends mentioned it may be worth purchasing as you should callibrate regularily (every couple of months).

It would be appreciated if someone with experience can advise If I should hire 1 of ..or if regular calibration i s necessary
